Exchanging damaged euro notes

In some cases, damaged euro notes can still be exchanged. The conditions are set out below.

Volume < 3000 euro per month
≤ 10 000 euro per calendar year

Request Send the completed form along with a (double-sided) copy of the ID card of both the applicant and the beneficiary, as well as proof that the account belongs to the applicant (a bank statement or a photocopy of the bank card), to the Central Cash Office.  
CONDITIONS The damage is accidental.
More than half of the banknote still remains.
Standard exchange
Volume < 3000 euro

Payment Immediately at the counter
In cash (transfer is not possible)

No form (except in the case of serious damage).
Exchange of large amounts
Volume  ≥ 3000 euro
Charges Free
Payment < 10 000 euro: Immediately in banknotes and coins 
≥ 10 000 euro: Postponed in banknotes and coins
CONDITIONS The damage is accidental.
More than half of the banknote still remains.
A declaration of origin must be completed.
