NBB surveys

The National Bank of Belgium (NBB) does a lot of research work in order to get a good picture of economic developments in Belgium. To gather the necessary information, it takes surveys among the various stakeholders in the Belgian economy. It thus assesses the impact of economic policy on consumers, households and companies on a regular basis.

At the moment, the following surveys are in progress:

The triennial study of households’ financial behaviour – Household Finance and Consumption Survey (HFCS): the Belgian section of a European survey of the financial situation of households, with such themes as credit, savings and consumption. .
Monthly business barometer: gauging business confidence among some 2,500 company managers.
Monthly consumer survey: gauging consumer confidence among a variable sample of 1,850 consumers.
