Head of Communication

Geert Sciot has headed up the Communication Service and been the National Bank of Belgium’s spokesman since January 2018. Armed with a degree in Communication Sciences from the VUB and the Instituut van Journalistiek, he began his career at the VRT and then joined the economic editorial staff for De Morgen news bulletin in 1993.

After being appointed as Director of Communication and one of the spokesmen for Brussels Airlines in 2002, he contributed to writing the books “Le crash de la Sabena” and “Air Nostalgie”, which were published the following year, a year during which he also became Vice-President for Media Relations at Brussels Airlines. Member of the jury for the Pascal Decroos Fund, he was also in charge of communication and marketing for the sectoral Association of European Airlines (AEA) on a part-time basis, from 2012 to 2016.

Since 2013, he has also been Honorary Consul of the Republic of Malta for Belgium.
