The National Bank of Belgium and the Oesterreichische Nationalbank are delighted to invite you to the upcoming conference "A Digital Euro for the Digital Era". 

The digital economy is booming and many new forms of currency have emerged in recent years. In this context, the ECB and the national central banks are assessing whether to introduce a digital euro, a retail central bank digital currency.

This event will provide an opportunity to exchange views on the digital euro and to deepen the understanding of the rationale and potential benefits of the digital euro as well as the key challenges that lie ahead.

Opening remarks will be given by Pierre Wunsch, Governor of the National Bank of Belgium and Robert Holzmann, Governor of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank. Evelien Witlox (ECB) and Petia Niederländer (Oesterreichische Nationalbank) will present their views on the digital euro. Afterwards, a panel discussion will be held with Sylvie Calsacy (Worldline Global), Jan Ceyssens (European Commission), Monique Goyens (BEUC, the European Consumer Organisation) and Erik Luts (KBC Bank & Insurance), moderated by Tim Hermans (National Bank of Belgium).

The conference will be followed by a networking lunch.
