Privacy statement

In its capacity as a public institution, the National Bank of Belgium (NBB) attaches great importance to protecting the personal data of users.

The National Bank of Belgium processes your personal data in order to provide you with access to the Central Balance Sheet Office’s applications and to contact you. Processing is based on Article 6.1(b) and (e) of the General Data Protection Regulation[1]. The personal data processed include identification details, contact data and, if applicable, the digital key used to log in. Personal data are retained as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose of the processing.

Access to data

The NBB is the data controller for purposes of the abovementioned processing operations. Data can only be accessed on a need-to-know basis by a limited number of NBB staff responsible for managing the Central Balance Sheet Office applications or for answering questions. Personal data will not be disclosed to third parties, unless the NBB is required to do so by law or a legitimate interest can be demonstrated.

Data subject rights

To the extent compatible with the applicable laws and regulations, data subjects have the right to:

(1) access and, if necessary, correct or request the correction of their data;

(2) object to the processing of their data for reasons relating to their particular situation;

(3) request the deletion of their data or a restriction on the processing thereof;

(4) obtain their data in a structured, common and machine-readable format and transfer them to another controller;

(5) file a complaint with the Data Protection Authority if they believe that the processing of their data violates the applicable laws and regulations.
