Colloque international 2020 sur le thème «Climate Change: Economic Impact and Challenges for Central Banks and the Financial System»

Le changement climatique et la transition nécessaire vers une utilisation plus efficace et durable de l'énergie posent de nombreux défis à la société. Il existe encore une énorme incertitude associée à ce processus et aux changements associés en matière de politique, de technologie et de sentiment. Cette incertitude crée des risques et des opportunités qui affectent de nombreuses décisions économiques. Les banquiers centraux et les autorités de contrôle du système financier devraient assumer leur responsabilité dans ce processus dans le cadre de leur mandat et avec les instruments dont ils disposent. Afin de contribuer à ce processus, une bonne compréhension de l'impact potentiel du changement climatique sur la macroéconomie et les marchés financiers est un point de départ nécessaire. Les recherches théoriques et empiriques peuvent fournir des informations sur la manière dont ces facteurs sont évalués sur les marchés financiers, comment ils affectent les résultats micro et macroéconomiques et comment les politiques économiques, monétaires et macroprudentielles devraient réagir.

Les résultats de plusieurs études menées dans ce domaine seront dévoilés lors de cette conférence. Sept équipes de chercheurs belges et étrangers présenteront leurs conclusions. Chaque exposé sera suivi d’un débat en présence d’experts internationaux. Le programme sera complété par des interventions de Christian Gollier (Toulouse School of Economics), Irene Heemskerk (De Nederlandsche Bank et Network for Greening the Financial System) et Irene Monasterolo (Vienna University of Economics and Business et IIASA).
