ECB raises key interest rates
The Governing Council today decided to raise the three key ECB interest rates by 50 basis points. Further rate hikes are expected.

Belgian economy grew by 0.1% in the fourth quarter of 2022
According to the latest flash estimate, gross domestic product (GDP) was up by 0.1% in the fourth quarter of last year compared to the previous quarter. Value added declined further in the manufacturing industry but continued its upward trajectory in the services sector, while the building industry saw accelerated growth. For 2022 as a whole, GDP grew by 3.1%

New regional figures
In the framework of its reporting obligations to Eurostat, the National Bank of Belgium has published new regional figures on economic activity and employment as well as household income and consumption expenditure.

The Central Individual Credit Register has published its statistical report setting out the most important developments in 2022.

On average, corporate profit margins declined in the first three quarters of 2022
A sharp increase in costs is affecting firms across the board. However, all firms are not similarly situated. After reaching high levels in 2021, the average firm's profit margin declined in the first three quarters of 2022 in many sectors.
