Belgian banknotes

The National Bank of Belgium designed and printed Belgian banknotes from 1850 to the end of the 20th century.

The application “The Belgian banknote from 1851 until 2002” shows the banknotes in circulation in any particular year.

Exchange of Belgian banknotes

All banknotes issued by the Bank since 1944 remain exchangeable, without a limitation in time. However, coins denominated in Belgian francs can no longer be exchanged. For more information, please refer to the following page: "Exchanging Belgian banknotes".

The last series (1994-1998)
