The purposes of the Fit & Proper Manual are to:

(i) clarify what it understands by "adequate expertise" and "professional integrity", as defined in legislation;

(ii) clearly state what it expects from institutions with regard to individual and collective suitability assessments;

(iii) communicate transparently about its suitability policy in order to provide legal certainty as far as possible about both the content and the procedure of suitability assessments;

(iv) where appropriate, provide details of how other relevant European and international regulations and policy documents should be integrated into suitability assessments.
