Postponement of the General Meeting by the law of 3 April amending the Organic Law of the Bank

Question discussed at the 2009 general meeting

The law of 3 April 2009 amending the financial provisions of the Bank’s Organic Law authorises the Council of Regency to postpone the date of the General Meeting from March to May.

The aim of this change is to prevent the financial results of the ECB being deduced from the annual accounts of the Bank before the publication of the ECB’s own accounts. However, the ECB’s Governing Council must not approve its annual accounts before the end of March whereas the Bank must publish its accounts by no later than two weeks prior to the General Meeting.

This change of date does not have any effect on shareholders.
