17.05.2011 - 19.05.2011: 22nd XBRL International Conference in Brussels on the subject "Sharing Economic Information in a Global World: the XBRL Contribution".
The opening address is given by Mr Pierre Wunsch (chief of staff to the Minister of Finance, Mr Didier Reynders).
Mr Jean Hilgers (member of the NBB's Board of Directors) sets out the advantages using XBRL holds for the National Bank of Belgium.
Mr Derek De Brandt (Aguilonius Consulting) is co-chair for track 2 "Data collection".
Mrs Caroline Dupae (FPS Finance) makes a presentation regarding Biztax in track 2 "Interactive data collection" and regarding the use of formulas in track 6 "XBRL technology & practices", Mr Dirk Tuymans (NBB) makes a contribution on the linkage of business registries in track 3 "Interactive data sharing" and Peter Neyrinck (FPS Finance) makes a presentation regarding the exchange of information between the National Bank of Belgium and the FPS Finance in track 4 "Interactive data analysis".

21.03.2011 - 23.03.2011: The NBB receives a delegation from Bank Indonesia, the central bank of the Republic of Indonesia, which had expressed interest in obtaining in-depth information about the XBRL projects in Belgium and the underlying approach. During the three study days, presentations were made by various members of the non-profit organisation XBRL Belgium:
- the FPS Finance, on the BizTax application
- the Directorate General Statistics and Economic Information (DGSEI) of the FPS Economy, on the structure survey
- the NBB, on filing annual accounts in XBRL format, the FINREP/COREP financial reporting and the "One Gate" application
- Derek De Brandt (Aguilonius Consulting), on FINREP/COREP from a European perspective and from the viewpoint of the reporting companies
- the CBFA on the internal use of data sent in by financial institutions.

08.12.2010: the NBB receives the "Companies Commission of Malaysia" which had expressed interest in obtaining in-depth information about the XBRL projects in Belgium. One of the projects from this Commission's "Second Strategic Direction Plan 2010-2014" is in fact to introduce XBRL as the format for submitting annual accounts and related reports in Malaysia; from this perspective, it is useful to get first-hand knowledge of the experience of other countries like Belgium.

19.10.2010 - 21.10.2010: 21st XBRL International conference on the theme of "One language, common vision - Role of XBRL technology in the post-crisis era". This conference is being held in Beijing.

22.04.2010: The Directorate-general Statistics and Economic Information (FPS Economy, member of XBRL Belgium) publishes the adapted XBRL Taxonomy for the yearly survey on the structure of enterprises. The new Taxonomy will be taken into production on 1st September 2010.

29.10.2009 - 30.10.2009: XBRL Italy and the "Associazione Bancaria Italiana" organize in Rome a conference on "Business models" and "Simplification through innovation". Other than Italian speakers presenting the most recent developments of XBRL concerning reporting, speakers of other countries have presented the present situation concerning reporting in their respective countries: Pia Löfgren for the Swedish Tax Department, Paul Snijders for the NTP-project in the Netherlands, and Camille Dümm (NBB) for the projects of the Belgian regulators ("Administrative simplification with XBRL - The Belgian experience").

17.03.2009: General Meeting of the NPO XBRL Belgium.

14.03.2009 - 15.03.2009: Participation of Mark Creemers (NBB) and Derek De Brandt (Aguilonius) in a working meeting of the Committee of European Banking Supervisors (CEBS) XBRL Network in Warsawa (Poland) in order to discuss the evolution of the new FINREP taxonomy.
Background information: on 10 March 2009 the CEBS has presented the FINREP update for consultation to the public; this consultation ends on 10 June 2009. The new FINREP taxonomy remains an extension of the IFRS taxonomy of the IASCF and will be finalised in the course of 2009. -
12.03.2009: Participation of Mark Creemers (NBB) in a meeting of the XBRL Quality Review Team of the IASCF regarding the publication of the IFRS-taxonomy scheduled on 1 April 2009. The feedback of the public consultation was run through and was being discussed. Normally the publication will take place on 1 April, as scheduled.

27.11.2007: Infogreffe (www.infogreffe.fr), a member of XBRL France, obtains all the information it needs from the NBB about the Central Balance Sheet Office’s XBRL Case. Infogreffe wants to offer French enterprises the option of filing their annual accounts in XBRL as of July 2008.

16.11.2007: Mr Menda, Deputy Director of the French Banking Commission, and Mrs Delarue, head of its Information Technology service, pay a visit to the NBB for an exchange of views about collecting data in XBRL format in Belgium and in France. The NBB took the opportunity to focus on the Central Balance Sheet Office and FINREP/COREP projects; the French Banking Commission is currently working on a thorough review of its system for collecting data from financial institutions falling under the supervision of the Banque de France.

25.04.2007: In the framework of its MASTER CLASS CBC E-COMPTABLE seminar, the Chambre belge des Comptables, Experts-Comptables et Conseils Fiscaux (Belgian Chamber of Accountants, Chartered Accountants and Tax Advisors) is staging a study day on the theme of XBRL and annual accounts. This event is being organised in collaboration with the National Bank and will take place in the NBB’s Auditorium, rue Montagne aux Herbes Potagères 61, Brussels. This one-day event is intended to put particular emphasis on publicising annual accounts and the importance of these accounts for third parties who read company balance sheets, such as banking institutions, loan insurance organisations, suppliers and social workers.

14.04.2005: The “Taxonomy” working group (22 participants) starts the "Belgian GAAP taxonomy review". The working group furthermore meets on 3 May, 19 May, 2 June and 16 June 2005 in order to have completed an initial “review” by the end of June 2005.
The working group is made up of experts in fields that are important for this working group:
- experts in bookkeeping and annual accounts
- delegates of companies producing software for the creation and consultation of annual accounts
- IT experts and experts in XBRL
