Climate and environmental risks adviser

Brenda Van Tendeloo obtained a PhD in applied economics from the University of Antwerp in 2007. After teaching financial reporting for a year at the University of Maastricht, she joined the Banking, Finance and Insurance Commission (BFIC), now the FSMA, in September 2008 as a bank inspector. In April 2011, responsibility for banking supervision was transferred to the NBB. Brenda joined the NBB's Financial Stability, AML Supervision and Banking Prudential Policy Department in 2014.

She now focuses exclusively on climate and environmental risks and participates in Belgian and international working groups studying this topic. Since 2021, she has co-chaired the NBB Climate Hub, an internal network that allows colleagues from different departments working on climate risks and sustainable finance to exchange information and coordinate their activities.
