Departure of Mrs Françoise Masai, Vice-Governor of the National Bank of Belgium

Mrs Françoise Masai, Vice-Governor of the National Bank of Belgium, will step down from office on 31 May 2014.

Mrs Masai took up her duties at the Bank in 1971 and specialised mainly in international financial issues. On 1 March 1999, she was appointed Director of the Bank and on 1 April 2011 Vice Governor.

As a member of the Bank's Board of Directors, she was responsible for the Financial Markets Department, the Central Cash Office, the Legal Service and Prudential Supervision of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies. She represented the Bank in various Belgian and international institutions and committees. For instance, her posts included Vice-Chair of the High Council of Finance, member of the Committee of the Securities Regulation Fund, member of the CBFA's Management Committee, member of the Administrative Board of the Ageing Fund, member of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and alternate member of the Monetary Committee of the European Union.

By Royal Decree of 10 April 2014, Mrs Masai was awarded the title of Honorary Vice Governor.
