Die Gesamtfaktorproduktivität (TFP) steht im Mittelpunkt vieler wirtschaftlicher Auswirkungen. Die jüngste Wirtschaftskrise warf z. B. Fragen zu den Ursachen und dem Ausmaß der Schwächung der Produktivität auf, sowie zu ihrem Einfluss auf Wachstum, Konjunktur, Wettbewerbsfähigkeit, und Arbeitsmarktentwicklungen und auf die Wirtschaftspolitiken. Die Wirtschaftsstrategien von Unternehmen und ihre Wirkung auf lokale und internationale Märkte, Beschäftigung, Lohnbildung sowie die Gründung und das Verschwinden von Unternehmen werden ebenfalls von TFP bestimmt.

Das Kolloquium umfasst Beiträge zu diesen Themen von sechs belgischen Universitätsteams und von drei international anerkannten Wissenschaftlern. Die Podiumsdiskussion konzentrierte sich auf die Lehren dieser Arbeit und die wirtschaftspolitische Folgen.
