The ESCB's statistical function is based on a legal mandate to collect all necessary and relevant data in order to produce and disseminate impartial, reliable, appropriate, timely, consistent and accessible statistics in the areas under the ESCB's responsibility. Public commitment on European Statistics by the ESCB. The National Bank subscribes to the "Policy regarding the reuse of ESCB statistics" as communicated on September 3th, 2012 by the ESCB. However the Bank may reconsider its position in case large investments or costs are involved.

Foreign trade

The National Bank publishes – on behalf of the Institute for National Accounts – two bulletins. A “monthly bulletin” published 10 weeks after the month under review which provides some overall macro-economic totals (general evolution of foreign trade, price and volume evolution, totals per partner country and per large product category). Together with this monthly bulletin a press release with the major figures is published. Four months after the quarter under review a quarterly bulletin is published with additional information on a more detailed level (such as regional figures).
