Secretariat of the agreements: payment standards
The Secretariat of the agreements allocates the identification codes to the financial institutions that are active on the Belgian market. The Secretariat also provides the postscript print files and the list of technical features free of charge for the printing of normal transfers, cross-border transfers and bills of exchange, but only to financial institutions and printing establishments.
Bank identification codes
Financial institutions established in Belgium have one or more identification codes. These codes are used, for example, for the first three figures of all Belgian account numbers.
Transfers
The Secretariat supplies free of charge the postscript printing files and the list of technical characteristics for printing ordinary and cross-border transfers.
Direct debit mandates
The National Bank of Belgium is providing free PostScript print files and the list of technical features for printing the European direct debit mandate.
Bills of exchange
The Secretariat supplies free of charge the postscript printing files and the list of technical characteristics for printing bills of exchange.
