Economists from the Bank are involved in the analysis and research work carried out in the "networks" that the Eurosystem (euro area)  or the European System of Central Banks (EU) sets up with a view to deepening its understanding of certain economic mechanisms. These networks bring together researchers from the ECB, the national central banks of the European Union, the academic world and from statistical institutes.

Wage Dynamics Network (WDN)
In February 2006, the Governing Council of the Eurosystem decided to establish a network in which researchers from different central banks will be instructed to study wage and labour cost dynamics in the euro area.
Household Finance and Consumption Network (HFCN)
In December 2006, the Eurosystem Governing Council decided to set up this network in order to collect data from a cross-section of households on their finances and consumption patterns.
ESCB Network on Macro-prudential Research (MaRs)
In March 2010, the ESCB's General Council decided to set up a research network in the macro-prudential field.
ESCB Competitiveness Research Network (CompNet)
In March 2012, the ESCB's General Council decided to set up a research network in the competitiveness field.
