The non-financial accounts as a component of the national accounts contain a clear and structured overview of a country’s economic transactions. Belgium’s accounts are drawn up by the National Bank, on behalf of the Institute of National Accounts, according to the definitions of the “European System of National and Regional Accounts 1995” (ESA1995).

In addition to the components of the major aggregates, such as the GDP, the non-financial accounts also provide detailed information per economic sector and per line of business and some variables are also divided regionally. In addition to the annual figures, estimates per quarter are also available and a flash estimate of the GDP is published.
