XBRL is a rapidly emerging computer language for the electronic exchange and standardisation of financial reporting through the internet. The non-profit-making organisation XBRL Belgium has been set up to encourage its use in Belgium.
What is XBRL?
XBRL is a computer language which has been developed for the exchange of financial reports through the Internet.
Constitution and objectives
The XBRL platform for Belgium was introduced at the National Bank's head office on 22 November 2004. Its aim will be to promote the use in Belgium of "eXtensible Business Reporting Language" (XBRL).
Working groups
In order to develop actual projects, the NPO has set up three working groups which are responsible for coordinating projects at national level but also for participating in international working groups.
Taxonomy for drawing up standardized annual accounts as from 25 March 2013
The be-fr-pfs-ci-2013-04-01 taxonomy is the final version of the taxonomy to be used as from 25 March 2013 for drawing up annual accounts of non financial enterprises, associations and foundations in the form of a structured data file, for filing them via the Internet at the National Bank.
Corporate Permanent Data Taxonomy
This taxonomy is a complement to the Belgian financial reporting Taxonomy. Its purpose is to enable an exchange of corporate permanent data between various software programs and the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises.
