1 The consolidated financial account of a sector corresponds to total net acquisitions of financial assets and net increases in financial liabilities, with the exception of net acquisitions of financial assets and net increases in financial liabilities of which the counterpart is a unit within this sector. Since the consolidated figures on both the assets and liabilities sides are identical by definition, the consolidation has no impact on net lending/net borrowing.
2 The balance of the financial account is not equal in value to net lending/net borrowing as recorded in the non-financial account, owing to differences between the dates on which transactions are reorded in the two accounts, differences in the sources of information and statistical adjustments.
